How the Site Works
(Navigating the site)
As you make your way through A New Guard, you will find your
rights (and limitations) listed under specific headings. For
instance, if you have questions about a student’s right
to wear a specific shirt, then click on the “Clothing” link.
There you will find a general explanation of what rights students
have under the Constitution as it applies to clothing.
If you feel like your rights in this context have been violated
and would like to take action, click on the “Take Action” icon at the bottom of the page.

There you will find the appropriate form needed to make your
plea to the teacher, administrator or board necessary to defend
your rights. We strongly recommend that you read the “Activism” page
in its entirety before taking action. This will help you to
make the appropriate decisions necessary to lead an effective
stand.
In each section of the site, examples are given of student actions
that are constitutionally covered and those that are not. Those
examples that are constitutionally
covered are printed in blue,
those that are not, are printed in
red. (Know that the examples
given are not representative of the full scope of student rights,
but are merely specific, individual examples.)
After understanding your rights, you may be interested in learning how best to use them in your public school system. Please click on "use this right effectively" (at the bottom of the page) to get some great hints and tips on how this is done!

If you've read through A New Guard and haven't found the
answer you’re looking for, then please go to our forum
and ask for someone to
give you a
link to the appropriate answer. Please
try and make sure to post your question in the appropriate
thread. Also, please read the forum rules and register before
posting.
Finally, if after following the all proceedures in the activism page school officials still deny you your rights, then contact the Rutherford Institute Legal Dpartment. The Rutherford Institute is full of great people who would love to hear from you. At the bottom of each page there is a "Contact Rutherford Legal Department" for quick
